    How come no one demonstrate what really is done on first rings in a project. Do you just cut that part out?

    May I add something? I have been trying to tatt for about 4 years with no success. I just couldn't do the 2nd half of the stitch without the shuttle flying out of my hand. I thought it was slippery shuttles but it turns out it was not. My MIL saw me fighting with it and mentioned her mother had the same problem learning. Her grandmother handed her a shorter shuttle and problem fixed. It is not a learning problem its a small hands problem. I put away the aerolits and got some small shuttles and now I can tat without problems. I kept the bigger shuttles though. At the suggestion of NooBear I tried Reverse Reigo method. Turns out I can do that with the big shuttles. So now I tat both ways Reverse reigo with big shuttles and like you are with small ones.

    What I have found to work is to make a loop put the loop through the hole in the post then open the loop and pull the other end of the loop through the the hole and pull it taute. That way you just make a square knot with the tatting thread through the loop and wind the shuttle with the thread that way you get to use all the thread and you don't have to work the thread through the small hole in the shuttle all the time I have found using sz 20 thread is the best to use as it will accomodate sz 80 - sz 10 threads. It doesn't work for bobbin shuttles.

    This is wonderful. Yes, it really does make things so much more understandable. In posting, if you do add 1 more half stitch, do you do it before or after the post?

    Surprisingly enough this is the only method that works for me. I've practiced not reversing my chains for a good while now, so it doesn't phase me so far working unflipped reverse order stitches... still don't know how the triple negative works but it somehow all comes together beautifully 👍❤ well done and Thankyou for sharing your time and talent

    Thank you so much for your video. I have a question though. You do the first part of your chain doing the 2nd half of a stitch first, and then the first….so does that affect how you did the 2nd half of the split chain. Would it be done differently if the in the 1st half of the split chain the stitches would be done 1st half of a stitch followed by 2nd half of stitch?

    • @TheOnlineTattingClass
      @TheOnlineTattingClass 2 роки тому

      The reason you start with the 2nd half first is so that the stitches look the same on both sides of the split chain. When doing the split ring it has the same affect. Hope that helps you. Happy Tatting and Thank you for your kind comments.

    I'm not sure if I will enjoy this 🤔? I bought stuff including a boye shuttle from hobby lobby because it was on clearance sale. My daughter Rory died January 26 and I'm doing a lot to stay busy 😪! Before this I got Into dollhouses and do what I can to save money .I've started weaving and really enjoy it! Other projects as well but all are focused towards dollhouse miniature.
